Check out my Slide Show!

Ok! I have another soar throat/cold/allergies/who knows! What that means is I am snoring like a freight train at night! Isn't that just lovely and feminine? Mike has slept on the couch for the last two nights. He can't sleep because he has an ear infection and can't stand to put ear plugs in because of the pain! We are quite a pair! sick and tired! Ha!

I have been sick 4 times since December. What is the deal! I broke my leg in December and got the flu the same day! This is the 4Th time I have gotten a cold since then. I have been on Antibiotics twice. I can't even remember the last time I had to take meds. for an infection! What is going on? Mike has been very sick with a soar throat for about 2 weeks now. He went to the Dr. they said he had an ulcer on his throat from the cold he had. Now his ears are hurting and he isn't getting better. We called the Dr. again but because he wasn't running fever they won't give him anything. That is fine we are not big medicine - run to the Dr. for every little thing kind of people, but this is getting crazy! Toby stayed home from school today his throat is killing him. So what ever this is, it is obviously "catching"

There is no time to be sick!!!! I have Travis moving home from college tomorrow. I have to pick up Tessa's senior portraits tomorrow evening. Tessa has prom on Saturday and Terra is coming home from Nashville on Saturday and I have a catering job for 100 people on Sunday. No time to feel bad. I bought some multi-vitamins, and have been also taking some vitamin c. I am pretty desperate!

Okay! Okay! enough gripping! My caladiums are starting to come up on the courtyard and I planted inpatience seeds (I know I spelled it wrong) in the flower beds around the brick patio. I am hopeful the snails and rollypolly's won't eat them up. There is something very satisfying to see something you plant start to grow. Speaking of planting and growing... our College minister talked to me today about getting to help out in some capacity in our college ministry! I am very excited and hopeful about this. We will see how God leads!

Wow! What a week I have had. It seems like I have been running like crazy. It is just that time of year.

Tessa had her Senior Portraits taken. You will have to check out Suzy's Portraits
She is also going to take the pictures of Terra & Andrew at their wedding in January. She did a great job on their engagement pictures and Tessa's portraits look great as well! We had to get all of Tessa outfits ready and her jewelry made for her prom dress, she wore that in one of the pictures.

This is last years prom picture! It was good but wait till you see this years !! Prom is Saturday.

Happy Birthday Travis! 4-26-08 Travis got word from his Air Force recruiter that He got the linguist jog. We are so proud of him! His recruiter was telling he that she had no idea how in the world he got the job (apparently these jobs are few and far between). We know because we were all praying for him about it!!!! He will leave for basic at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, on June 23rd. He will finish basic sometime around August 3 and he will be shipped out immediately for Monterrey California for 63 weeks. For language school. Then who knows! We are so proud of him and this accomplishment. Here are some pictures of his family party on Saturday. We had grilled steak and potato salad, baked beans, garlic bread and cherry cheese cake for desert. We got him a new rip stick, Nana and Papa got him a Leather travel bag and a really small thin new testament, and Meme and ToTo gave him Money! Always a good thing for a college student!

Last night at about 10:00 p.m. Terra called she is going to be an intern this summer and next semester for John E. Coates. He is the Director of the Nashville Choir. Anyway yesterday was her first event to work for him. They were performing at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. It is a hymn sing with several local choirs. They invite guest artists to perform and sing the verses of the hymns and then the choirs and audiences sing verses. So Terra had the privilege of showing the Guests artist around. They included Melinda Doolittle, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Travis Cottrel, and Bill Gaither. Needless to say it was a very exciting day and there were many interesting stories.
As a parent it was very humbling because you pray and pray and pray for your children. Then all of a sudden you see them becoming adults ( and sometimes it is a very bumpy road getting there) then they make decisions or do something that makes you think WHY DO I WORRY! GOD IS SO IN CONTROL!!!

Travis will be going to take a test in Dallas tomorrow to see if he can qualify for linguist school with the Air Force. He still hasn't heard when he leaves for basic yet it will probably be sometime in August or September. He is very anxious to go. I am really praying he get into linguist school. He would be in California for 2 years if he gets in. That would put Iraq off for two more years!. Travis is on the left in the above picture. Please pray for Travis!!!

Well, I think we have finally finished the kitchen project. Mike and I both have reached the end of our rope! We stripped, sanded, stained, polyed the cabinets. Reconfigured the bar, put in a new sink and tiled the back splash and top of the bar. Repainted the walls and ceiling of the kitchen. We didn't do new flooring. We will not be installing that, when the time comes for the flooring we will be calling the professionals!

There we some lessons that I learned during this process, 1st. Budget - What budget!!! 2. How to tile. I liked it! 3. With the right tools and www.diy.com the possibilities are endless!
Take a look at the before and after pictures. Really they are during and after pictures I wasn't thinking and forgot to take actual before pictures. You can really see the difference in the stain colors in the last two pictures. What we thought would take 2 weeks ended up taking 6. But who's counting!
